My name is Mairi Bontorno. In the last couple of years, I’ve made a lot of changes: moved to a different state, married, taught a college class, and spent two months in upstate NY with my husband. I love to write, and I love history as well, especially textile and domestic history. I love to sew, knit and sometimes bake. I have a masters degree in archaeology from the University of Glasgow.

This is me exploring an old house with my husband in upstate New York.

I’m so excited to use this writing platform to share my ideas and explore my creativity a bit more. If you subscribe, you’ll get a monthly newsletter about my experiences, ideas, things I’m working on, the things in the world that I’m excited about. I’ve been writing my whole life, and in the last few years have also been on a journey of awareness, both of the human condition and of the good and bad within me. I’d love to share these insights with the world around me, as well as any projects (bookmaking, sewing, knitting, writing) that I’m working on.

If you are a paid subscriber, I’ll share a poem once a month, if not more often; additional thoughts throughout the month; and a monthly writing prompt. If there is any research, photos or recipes I use throughout the month, those will be added as well. It’s a new and exciting step to try to make money from my writing, and I would appreciate your support so much.
